The trip by cableway is always an emotion: you fly over the Valtournenche up to 250 meters high, and you can admire the “chamois” from above which graze peacefully between the grassy ledges and along the stiff mule track that comes from Buisson to Chamois.
In the village stands the bell tower of the parish church while there are many pretty chapels in the different hamlets.
Since Chamois, it is also possible to mount more with the others ropeways and reach the lac de Lod where you can find a pic-nic area and restaurantsfor a pleasant break or as a starting point for various excursions or, in winter, to reach the ski slopes.
What to do in Chamois
There are also routes for ski mountaineering and snowshoeing in the area. Do not miss the easy pedestrian path in the snow from La Magdeleine to Chamois and the walk to the hamlet of Suis.
Even the beautiful season, Chamois offers exciting views of the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, Gran Paradiso and other famous peaks of the Aosta Valley to those who venture on the many trails of the region, on foot or by mountain bike . One of the best known is the trail that goes from La Magdeleine to Chamois. From the hamlet of Corgnolaz can be made more demanding excursions such as those leading to Col di Nana and Col Pillonet.
At Lake Sw Lod you can fish.
The Chamois position is also ideal for flying. Indeed, there is an “altiporto” in the hamlet Suis open to the little airplanes, to those who practice paragliding and occasionally to the helicopters of the emergency services, in case of unavailability of the sports ground located in the chief town .
